Common questions
Do cold emails to recruiters actually work?
They work when they are short, specific and about one measurable result. A three-line message naming the role, your relevant number and a clear ask gets far more replies than a long profile summary or a resume attached with no context.
What should the subject line of a job cold email be?
Put the role and your strongest credential in the subject — for example 'Backend Engineer — 5 yrs, cut API latency 60%'. Avoid 'Job application' or 'Seeking opportunities'; those read as mass mail and get skipped.
How many follow-ups should I send?
One follow-up after four working days and, at most, a second a week later. Most positive replies in India come on the first follow-up. Always give the recruiter an easy way to say no — it increases responses, not lowers them.
Should I send a LinkedIn message or an email?
Use LinkedIn for hiring managers and employees you want a referral from, and email for recruiters and careers inboxes. If you have both, send the LinkedIn note first and the email a day later referencing it.
How to use these messages
Send to a named person, never to a generic inbox where you can avoid it. One specific number in the first three lines does more than a full career summary.
