A 30-day job search plan that does not burn you out

Applying to 200 jobs is not a strategy. This is a four-week structure with weekly targets, so effort goes where it changes the outcome.

A job search fails for one of three reasons: the resume does not convert, the targeting is wrong, or the interview performance is unrehearsed. Each week of this plan attacks one of them.

Week 1 — Make the resume convert

  • Rewrite the top third around outcomes, not duties.
  • Score it against three real job posts and close the keyword gaps.
  • Decide on one or two target job titles — not five.
  • Update your LinkedIn headline and About to match those titles.

Week 2 — Target instead of spraying

Build a list of 30 companies you would genuinely join. Ten applications with a fit score above your threshold will outperform sixty generic ones. Track every application with its status and next action, so nothing goes silent by accident.

Week 3 — Apply with intent and follow up

  1. Five to eight tailored applications, not thirty copies.
  2. One short recruiter note per application, sent the same day.
  3. Follow up once after seven days, then move on.
  4. Two conversations a week with people already doing the job.

Week 4 — Convert interviews

Rehearse six STAR stories out loud, research each company the day before, and prepare a salary range you can say calmly. Debrief after every interview: what was asked, what you fumbled, what you fix before the next one.

Track one number

Applications sent is a vanity metric. Track your interview rate instead — interviews divided by applications. Below roughly one in ten, the problem is your resume or your targeting, not your effort.

Careerpilotai360 keeps this whole loop in one place: a readiness score, fit verdicts per role, tailored applications, a tracker with next actions, and interview practice — so you always know what to do next.
